Who is invited?
Every international, regional and national KKI leadership and eldership team members are invited. Younger leaders and partners involved in these teams are also welcomed.
Will there be any childcare?
Childcare will be provided for part of the day for ages 0-12 years old. Teenagers can either participate in the adult program or help with the childcare. Feel free to bring a babysitter with you.
What will the accommodations be like?
Every room has air conditioning and fans and its own bathroom. There are single rooms, as well as rooms with a double bed or rooms with two or three beds. Towels are available upon request.
What will the schedule look like?
We don’t have a final schedule yet but we will have some working sessions, worship, training sessions and roundtables (time of discussion in smaller groups). Each day each region will have some time dedicated to Zoom with their region. Only 1 or 2 sessions will be available by Zoom for all the ones not able to join on site.
Can I bring an outreach team with me?
You are welcome to bring a team and organize an outreach before and/or after the ILA. There are many different possibilities mostly around Egypt. If you’re interested, please send an email to: kki.serviceteam@gmail.com with the dates you’re interested in and the kind of ministry you’re interested in doing (for example: kids ministry, practical work, etc.). The deadline to register for an outreach is the beginning of May. Please note that your outreach team cannot come to the ILA.
What about visas?
Most likely, you’ll need a visa to come to Egypt. For most countries, the visa costs US$25 per person and can be done either on arrival at the Airport, or you can apply for an e-visa online at www.visa2egypt.gov.eg at least 7 days before your trip.

What does the price include?
- Transportation from and to the airport.
- Housing and food (3 meals per day and two snack times.)
- The conference fees, which includes use of the meeting halls, tech etc.
- The outing is NOT included.
- Extra days at Beit El Salam before and/or after the conference are NOT included.
It is possible to pay for your ILA fees in advance. Payments can be made to the KKI bank account in Switzerland or by PayPal. For this, please email us back right away and we will issue you an invoice with all the info needed to make a payment.
What kind of Money should we bring?
The Money in Egypt is Egyptian Pounds and the best place to change money is at the airport. Exchange rate is approximately: $1 USD = 15 EGP / 1 € = 18.5 EGP. If paying on site, your conference fee must be paid in local currency so, please check the exchange rate before coming and exchanging money. There are ATMs available in the airport Arrival Hall.
What kind of Plug do we need?
In Egypt, the power plugs and sockets are of type C and F. The standard voltage is 220 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz. It is called Europlug as it is the kind that is commonly used in most of Europe – see picture:
What is the temperature in August?
August is quite hot and the temperature the whole month will be between 24° and 32° degrees Celsius, often with a cool sea breeze.
What are the options for snacks and coffee?
Two times a day there will be a snack for all. Other than that, there are several places all over the location where snacks and beverages can be bought at little stalls and where you have seating areas to meet with your friends or your teams.
What airport should I arrive at?
There are two Airports to arrive at and from where you will be picked up: Cairo and Alexandria. Non-Westerners should arrive at Cairo airport if you don’t want to have any complications at immigration. Cairo airport is about 4 hours away by road from Beit el Salem. Westerners can arrive at either airport.

What kind of outings will there be?
During the ILA there will be an outing day with different options to choose from. The different outings will accommodate different budgets so that everyone is able to join. Possibilities will be the Pyramids, several sights in Alexandria including the Library or the Citadel, as well as options for shopping or walking around.
What is the location like?
Beit el Salem is next to the Mediterranean Sea, but because of a strong current you cannot swim in the sea. If you want to swim, there is a nice swimming pool as well as sport fields. The whole location is very family friendly and spacious, with several covered areas where you can sit and spend time with each other.
What kind of clothes do I bring?
As this is a KKI event, please be sensitive to others as well as to the culture of the country. Do not bring revealing clothes, spaghetti strap shirts or very short pants. Bikinis are not allowed in the swimming pool, neither is cotton allowed (e.g. cotton t-shirt). Please bring at least one bottle of mosquito repellent per person.
